About

Simon De Marchi - Shark Technician

With over 30 years of experience, my work focuses on the cleaning, restoration, and mounting of shark jaws, skeletons, and skulls. I handle both fresh specimens and vintage pieces, bringing them back to life with meticulous care.

As a member of the Oceania Chondrichthyan Society, I’m committed to supporting the education, conservation, and research of sharks, rays, skates, and chimaeras. I also collaborate with the Shark Research Committee in the US and the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS).

I am a strong advocate for catch-and-release fishing, which is why most of the fresh jaws I work with come from sharks that couldn’t be revived after capture. In addition to my work with collectors, I also restore old, damaged specimens, helping museums and enthusiasts restore pieces that have been poorly cleaned or stored for years.

Each jaw I work on is treated with the utmost precision, ensuring it’s carefully cleaned, restored, and mounted to the highest standards.
