White Shark Jaw Restored
Tag not found.
It’s been a while since my last post. I have been busy catching up with projects that need to be finished prior to Christmas.
Included in that, a situation that is a first for me. A White shark jaw I was restoring for a client in Europe, who has now decided he wants me to sell it, as he does not want it anymore. The jaw is from a shark estimated to be around 5.4 metres to 5.5 metres in length.
Caught in the early 80’s off the coast of South Africa, it comes complete with CITES paperwork. The price includes all paperwork and freight using DHL. Email me or PM me for further details and pricing. Jaw dimensions are 775mm wide x 662mm high. Upper principle tooth is 6.45cm from tip to base of root. Slant length is 6.51cm.
These jaws are now getting harder to find, especially with the correct documentation. Caught back in the early 70’s and 80’s, prior to the introduction of the White shark being fully protected, many are strewn all over the place in fishermen’s and private collections, pretty much forgotten.
Restoring a White Shark caught back in the early 70’s & 80’s.
The amount of work involved in cleaning and restoring such jaws to bring them back to a pristine condition is huge, and therefore reflects the pricing associated with such a specimen.
Four back row teeth have been replaced, and are in a synthetic resin, very similar to the one used by dentists. All other teeth are the real originals.
This jaw is selling for AUD$31,500 which includes all CITES paperwork, special packaging and shipping via DHL courier anywhere in the world.
